郊外

郊外_は大都市圏の主要都市の外にあるエリアで、商業用と混合用途が含まれる場合がありますが、主に住宅地です。郊外は、より大きな都市/都市部の一部として、または別個の政治的実体として存在することができます。この名前は、都心部ほど人口密度が高くないが、田舎の農村地域よりも人口密度が高い地域を表しています。多くの大都市圏では、郊外は都市の通勤距離内に別個の住宅コミュニティとして存在します。特に米国では、郊外は独自の政治的または法的管轄権を持つことができますが、特にほとんどの郊外が存在する英国では、常にそうであるとは限りません。都市の行政境界内にあります。ほとんどの英語圏の国では、郊外は中心部や都心部とは対照的に定義されています。郊外は、他の国では「近隣」と呼ばれるものとほぼ同義になり、この用語は都心部を含みます。
